Mafic Basalt Fiber on the International Space Station

Check out winning team of ‘The Only Way is Up’ and their experiment to test reinforced concrete on board the International Space Station featuring Mafic Basalt Fibers. This group of Irish Secondary School Students from St Nessan’s Community College in Co. Limerick will get to visit NASA and see their project launch. Their project will then spend 30 days in orbit before returning to Earth where they can analyse the effects of micro-gravity against a control test.

This video was taken at St. Nessan's Community College in Limerick, showing the students working on their space research project that will be sent to the International Space Station on the Orb-2 mission from NASA Wallops. The students will investigate the effects of microgravity on reinforced concrete using Irish Cement.
